Finally… PM of the year… And oil skyrockets!
ARM
has it. MRMA has it. Even little girls have it. But what about property
managers? That’s what we asked ourselves when we realized that resident
managers get all the glory with their annual awards. So, six industry
groups and our magazine got together to choose the first ever Property
Manager of the Year. The groups are IREM, CCIM, BOMA, IFMA, CAI and MRMA.
And the winner is… Malcolm Ching.
General manager of Waikele.
In addition, did you notice?
With the price of oil skyrocketing, is anyone in oil dependent
Hawaii paying attention?
You bet.
We have two companies that recently began marketing windmills for businesses and buildings.
Not a whole windfarm, a la California/Palm Desert style.
Little guys in your parapet.
Something all of us can do.
We also tell you about two companies that have become Hawaii leaders in solar power. Specifically photovoltaic electricity as opposed to solar water heating.
There’s a story about HECO reaching the $23 million level in rebates to energy savvy customers.
And BOMA has put out a free handbook on energy efficiency.
That’s a great energy line-up.
We also thought we’d mention that you can get police statistics for your area from the Honolulu Police Department website at honolulupd.org/patrol. There’s a lot of interesting info there.
The HPD regularly reports this information to building managers at the Moiliili Resident Managers Association.
